that’s freakin’ awesome! my new apt complex has a 24/7 concierge and when i call from my cell i get a personal greeting from an actual person! and i can ask them just about anything!
on city living…
so it’s been about eleven months since i moved to san francisco’s castro district and can honestly say, living here has been a dream come true for me… not only was i able to leave the east bay for “the city”, but i was lucky enough to find a room i can afford in a clean, safe, lively, and gay-friendly area.
i have a big room, i can walk to and from my work shuttle stop, i can stumble to and from the bars, i have a plethora of restaurants to choose from, 24 hour safeway and 24hr fitness both around the corner, all the muni lines run right next to my house… basically, i’ve definitely felt at home here…
i’d love to say that this apartment is perfect. unfortunately, there’s one minor glitch - ok, actually it’s a major glitch. i live with a couple. probably the most annoying couple one can live with. i don’t think the girl can gauge how loud her speaking voice is. and she likes to scream and argue. and she thinks making her already irritating voice more high pitched is cute -_-” the guy is ok. he’s quiet and respectful but he’s also a pushover.
true to my passive aggressive nature, i turned up the music volume, walked outside with my bedhead when they woke me up, and even sent emails politely asking them to keep it down. but because the apartment is theirs and i am renting the room from them, i’ve felt helpless in the situation.
the good news is, i was able to get a new apartment with a couple of college friends. the apartment is amazing! a brand new high rise with great amenities ready for us to move into next week. there is only one mini bump… it’s near the more sketchy downtown civic center district. but i am looking forward to living with friends who i’d actually hang out with rather than “strangers”, and where i don’t have to feel secluded in my room.
i’m still sad that i won’t be “in” the castro anymore. i’ll miss the comfort and convenience it’s offered. but i’ll only be a short muni ride away and i do plan on being around a lot. also, i think i’ve decided that i’ll make it my permanent home someday… that is if i can afford it’s ~ million dollar homes. until then, i realize that i’ll be making a few more moves, especially if i pursue graduate school (a separate entry on this later).
